Popotics: I don't care about Royal Wedding.

I'm going to make this short and sweet. As an American I have more important things on my mind than the figure head monarchy of another country; like gas prices raising day, by day, our country being in two different wars and a "conflict", our whole country being in a recession/depression (decession?),  not having insurance or access to healthcare, and states cutting funding to education.

Still some idiots are going to probably turn on the "royal wedding" in the classrooms on Friday so the children can watch. Why not just say, "So sorry you're mom is serving her 4th consecutive tour of duty in Iraq/Afghanistan, and your dad was laid off months ago, and his unemployment ran out so he can't afford to pay the bills, much less fill his gas tank at $4.00 a gallon to get you to any extra-curricular activities because the school system had to cut funding so there is no more art, music, or physical education in school. Besides, if you got hurt playing sports you couldn't afford medical care because you have a pre-existing condition, and aren't covered by your mom's insurance anyway. So, look at these two rich people getting married who will never ever, ever, ever, ever have to worry about such things."

Oh, but they are so caring! They want you to donate money to charities instead of sending them gifts. The audacity of these people! The bottom 98% of Americans NEED charity! You're the bloody billionaires, YOU donate money and I'll continue to ignore your stupid $35 million dollar wedding.

Where have I heard that before? Katy Perry/Kanye West American Idol Edition

I liked Katie Perry's E.T., when I first heard it. Then I realized that it was because I liked Tatu's "All the Things She Said". Are we not supposed to notice that it's the same damn melody?

Still Not convinced? Try this one.

Top 10: Fun Friday Night Fright Horror Movies

Last night Chiller played “Return of the Living Dead”, again! I’m not mad at them, because no matter how many times I see this movie, it never gets old. It’s fun horror. Fun Horror is a term I use to describe horror movies that aren’t particularly scary, but still enjoyable to watch. I’m talking about the kind of movies that are OK to watch alone, but really fun to watch with other people.  Some of these movies were not critical successes, and some weren’t even commercially successful, but still have a following. They usually are replayed on cable stations like AMC, TNT, Syfy, or Chiller.

Whenever these movies come on, people tweet like crazy! Twitter is like never being alone, so it’s kind of like watching a movie with the closest friends you’ve never met. I devised this list using the totally scientific method of level of mentions on twitter.

10. The People Under the Stairs
This is the most underrated Wes Craven movie. The writing is like a modern day fairy tale and the dialog is clever. I like the make-up on the boys in the basement.

9. Jeepers Creepers
According to IMDb the creature is named the Creeper, but everyone on Twitter affectionately calls him the Jeeper Creeper.

Scream 4: Movie Review

I put off writing this review, because I really have mixed feelings about the movie. It is really a weird feeling to not know whether you liked a movie or not. I know, you’re thinking, “How can you not know whether you liked the movie or not?” Well, as I thought about the movie just after watching it, I thought about the scenes that I liked, that made me laugh or made me jump, but I didn’t have the feeling of satisfaction that an enjoyable movie gives you.

Idiocracy: 6 Year Old Groped By the TSA

WTF!? Since when do 6-year olds look like persons of interest (I hate that expression. Can we just agree to go back to using the word suspect. It's short and it's what they really mean anyway.) They couldn't just wand her with the metal detector? It would still be extreme, but not as invasive. What are they gonna do next, start checking baby diapers and sifting through the poo for micro detonators?

.....and with that, we're one more step closer to Idiocracy being a documentary.

Idiocracy: Snooki payed more than Toni Morrison

I'm sure you've heard about this, but in case you haven't here is a recap. According to USA Today, Rutger's University has paid Jersey Shore castmate Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi $32,000 to speak about who knows what, while only paying Nobel prize winning author Toni Morrison $30,000 to give this year's commencement address. Snooki's advise to students, "Study hard, but party harder". That's $32,000 well spent! [/sarcasm]

Remember that Mike Judge movie Idiocracy? We're getting closer and closer to that being a documentary.

Popotics: Chris Brown vs. Charlie Sheen

Last week Chris Brown tweeted about how he felt that he had been treated unfairly in comparison to Charlie Sheen.  He expressed this sentiment after flipping out in The Today Show’s dressing room, because he was questioned about beating up Rihanna. Rosie O’Donnell felt that there was a racial component to how the public and media were treating Brown in comparison to their treatment of Sheen. (I know you’re thinking, “Why is Mel Gibson’s picture there?” I’ll get to him later.)

I want you to know from the start that I’m not about to defend Chris Brown or Charlie Sheen, they’re both @$$holes with a capitol A. Initially I wasn’t even going to write about this because it has been all over the net, TV, radio etc., but there were some points I still wanted to explore and discuss.

Silly Katy Perry! Albinos are not aliens!

First off I like the fact that Katy Perry is doing more than showing maximum cleavage and doing her scary eyes face. Seriously, when she makes that face it reminds me of the girl in 7th grade, that wasn't allowed to watch movies that weren't Rated G, who used to draw unicorns on everything, and stood a little too close when she talked to you. You know the one that said that she had a boyfriend in Canada (or insert any neighboring country to yours). Anyway Katy Perry used to remind me of girls like that, so it is really good to see her doing something different.

I love music video as an art form and I especially appreciate creativity. This video is very creative and the cinematography was gorgeous. I even love what they did with her various make-up looks.  Even Kanye West’s lyrics, “Tell me what's next, alien sex,
Imma disrobe you, than Imma probe you” made me laugh. Still, I did have some issues with the video.

This video along with Black Eyed Peas Imma be/Rockin that body, Lady Gaga’s Born This Way, and Willow Smith’s 21st Century Girl, all look like those 1970’s Sci-fi movies about the futuristic world of the 1990’s.  I’m not against this, but too much will make it get old real fast.

Hairstyling. Since when are cornrows “out of this world”? This traditionally African hairstyle is literally hundreds of years old, and quite human.

Fawn legs? Really that’s the best they could come up with? That’s just laziness. I would rather they made her look like the human/animal-hybrid from Splice.

Finally, albinos are NOT robot aliens. If I were an albino, I’d be pissed. Even if we tried to give it the bull$h!t reinterpretation that it meant that he was representing humanity, it still would not make sense because he initially was a robot that looked sort of like Wall-E or Johnny 5.
I liked the song, liked most of the video, but the cornrows and the African American Albino as robot/alien were not a good look. I look forward to the time in society that we don’t think of people and elements of different cultures as “alien”.

BTW, to the youtube people that are all "Ooooh, he's naked!" So? Big deal. As if we Americans weren't already nearly laughed off the planet for getting all "What about the children!?", when Janet Jackson's breast popped out, like a breast isn't the first thing a child sees anyway. We could stand to loosen up a bit, really.
